West Worcester Group Churches Women's Breakfast

Women from the group churches meet on the second Saturday of each month from 8.30 to 10 am for fellowship, fun and food. A speaker helps us to consider aspects of our faith to enable us to grow and support each other on our Christian journey.

The Music Group

The Music Group provides the music for various types and styles of worship making use of the best contemporary and tradional hymns and worship songs. We draw on many different sources for the hymns and psalms we lead, and also provide the music for services and events outside the church and even outside the parish of St. John's. We are also part of a wider ecumenical music group along with other denominations on Worcester's westside. We usually meet for practise on Friday evenings at 7.30 in the Blakefield Room. See the Calendar page for when we provide the music for worship in St John's. If you play a musical instrument, or just like to sing (in a less formal setting than a traditional church choir), you will be very welcome to join us!

Little Lambs

Little Lambs is a bustling play group for children 0-4 and their families, run by a group of dedicated volunteers and attended by a nurturing community of caregivers from all walks of life. We use free play to give inquisitive minds a safe space to explore and develop their skills; and allows caregivers five minutes to sit down and drink a cup of tea, whilst their little one is still in eye shot. The group runs every Monday 10am-12pm during term time, and is completely free. Tea, coffee and snacks are available, and a small donation is always appreciated, if you can spare anything.

“Thank you for all the kindness you show towards our grandchild. He looks forward to the group every week. Thank you for making it special”

St John's Clangers (The Bell Ringers of St John in Bedwardine)

Heard the bells ringing? Wondered what it's all about? Ever fancied giving bell ringing a go? Come and join us on a practice night and find out!

We have been ringing as a band since the tower reopened in November 2011. We are a fun group, friendly and very keen to welcome new members. We practice on a Thursday evening at 7.30pm and if you would like to join us please contact us on bellringers@stjohninbedwardine.co.uk.  Anyone can 'have a go', no need for any musical ability and is suitable for all ages. We have band members from 12 to 70+. This is a free weekly activity with no commitment so why not give it a go?

Choir

We are a small, friendly, R.S.C.M. affiliated choir with members from all walks of life.

We rehearse on Thursday evenings from 7.00pm for about 90 minutes with a break for refreshments. We sing on Sundays for Parish Eucharist at 10.30am on the first, third and fourth Sundays of each month and for Choral Evensong on the first and third Sundays. The music covers a broad range of styles.

Although reading music is handy, it is not essential as plenty of time is given in rehearsal to learning new pieces. If you would like to know more, please give our Organist and Choirmaster, John Brierley a call on 01905 358474 or send him an email: johnbrierley@hotmail.com

Flower Arranging Team

The Flower Arranging Team meet in Church every Friday (except during Advent and Lent) between 10am and 12.30pm. We enjoy the friendship of being together to create beautiful arrangements to decorate the church. We usually have a break for refreshments and a chat around 11am. We also take bookings for wedding flowers, please contact Sue (Hussell4@gmail.com) for details.

Children's Church

During the 10.30 am service each Sunday, except the second Sunday, the children join together for their own activities. We follow the readings from the service in many different ways but also look at what being a Christian means. The children join the service during Communion.

At different times through the year the children organise fund raising events for their chosen charities.

Messy Church

On the first Saturday of the month we hold an activity session in church from 3.00 -5.30 pm. We sing, share stories and their meanings, have a craft activity and share a light tea together. The age range is 3 - 14 years. Do come along and join us.
